Thomas Davis is elected mayor of Boston.

February 21, 1845

Davis (Native American Party), with 4,865 votes, defeats William Parker, with 3,341 and others on the eighth ballot. A member of the recently-formed predecessor of the “Know-Nothing Party,” he the youngest person elected mayor of Boston (32 years, 2 months, 10 days). Inaugurated on February 27, 1845, Davis attempts to step down from office due to poor health on October 6, 1845, but, when his resignation is not accepted, he dies in office on November 22, 1845.*
